Why your tasks and your docs should live in one tool
Two tools means two sources of truth and a stale link between them. Shaire puts tasks and documentation in the same place, on purpose.
Most teams run a tracker and a wiki. The tracker holds what is being done; the wiki holds why it is being done. The link between them is a URL somebody pasted once, and it goes stale the day the work moves.
Shaire treats that seam as the product rather than as an integration.
A page can hold live work
Drop a task list block into a page and it stays filtered and current — it is a query, not a screenshot. The spec and the state of the spec are the same document.
A checklist item can become a task
Write a checklist while thinking, then promote any line into a real task without leaving the page. The task keeps a link back to the doc it came from, and the doc shows the task’s status.
Milestones carry their own brief
A milestone spans lists, rolls up the work underneath it, and holds a rich-text brief next to that roll-up. There is no separate page to go and find.
Everything is linked in both directions
Tasks, pages and milestones link to each other with typed relations — blocks, blocked by, relates to, duplicates, documents, references. Mention a page and it records the mention. Nothing is a one-way URL.
That is the whole idea. Lighter than the stack you are running now, and considerably cheaper.
